What's your best advice on how to deal with the post-holiday blues?
Get back to work, you lazy bum! I kid but the fact that I'm working between Christmas and New Year's is a great cure towards not feeling the blues, If I'm lucky, it just feels like having 2 long week-ends in a row!
Returing to work for a couple of days is something that used to bug at first but I have grown accustomed to the rythm. That doesn't mean I wouldn't accept to have the whole period off but since it would depends on the good graces of the PHBs and on the fact I would need to let go of my hangups on trying to benefit from the system at the expense of others. That is my greatest weakness.
Christmas was okay, I guess... Dinner aside, it kind of felt like a normal week-end... Maybe the sleet/snow/rain storm of yesterday has soured my outlook.
Today's MtG Tarot draw is COUNSEL OF THE SORATAMI, which seems to fit my mood. Being at bay, looking for answers is probably the best thing to day this week.
Not that there's much else to do...
To all my feloow Vox-ers, I wish you a happy and merry Christmas. Hope the day brings you its lot of joy, happiness and the pleasure of being with those you love.
And now, a Christmas wish from Scott Adams...
...or maybe not!
For today's MtG Tarot draw, I got EARTHCRAFT. Not a very Christmassy card. Unless you consider getting a potentially broken card, granting unlimited power (with the right combo), to be a good gift.
Many happy squirrels!
How and where are you spending this Christmas Day? Make spirits bright by sharing a photo!
Not much planned except Dinner with me mum. Because family *is* important or so I've been told.
What are you hoping to find under the tree this year?
If I could get some time to myself with some extra sleep, it would be great. Seriously I wouldn't say no to DVDs, CDs, or anything to add to my wii catalogue.
The days are passing by and the rythm is winding down as we head towards the downtime of the Holiday season at work. Everyone's distracted by the coming events and we sometmes forget the small details.
Just because a truce for the season is called doesn't mean we forget the war. Forgive but never forget is my motto for everything BigMediaCo related. nnd to add to the irony, a year late there's this offer of a transfer that is dangling in front of me. But I'm far too stubborn to admit defeat, especailly with how whipped I felt last year.
Must be why my MtG card of the day is WILLBENDER. It's just a questioon to finding whose will will break first But they say when something is borken, it rebuilds itself stronger.
A theory that I'm sure I'll have to find the results by myself...
Traveling during the holidays can be chaotic. How will you use technology to ensure the trips you have planned remain stress free?

Seeing that my last 2 years were spent in Bytown, I had downloaded things like bus schedules along with the main routes, so I could manuever into the city. IF, I return this year, it will probably be along the same lines...
The first snowstorm has come and gone and La Cité is still standing in one piece. While it seems that my annual Holiday pilgrimage to Bytown has been put on hold in order to celebrate Christmas with the family. yay!
Seriously, as I'm taking a few days off after my post-Christmas work, I might head over there then but it's still Up In The Air (With George Clooney coming soon in theatres). But all shameless plugging aside, If you take out the avove-mentioned family duty, my calendar is wide-open, a blessing in disguise as it were.
The MtG Tarot Fates seems to share my cheery thoughts as I got PLUNGE INTO DARKNESS for today's draw. Well, a little too obvious, even for me.
Next, they'll buy a full-page ad in the BigMediaCo's newspaper to decry my current situation...
Last night's office party was great! Good food, relatively good booze, and lots of people having fun which is the best recipe for such a gathering.
And meanwhile, the cold is spreading to the land, making quite a contrast with the warm temperatures of the previous days.
I can't wait for time-off at Christmas, I just need a couple days to recharge my batteries because I get these insominia attacks, being able to sleep just a couple of hours at the time.
Just a couple more days!
For someone who is considering using the beginning of 20th Century as a starting point for my next story, why is it that I'm looking at sources about Fantasy?
Maybe, it's because that you can always fiond something intersting and it's just a matter of being able to adapt it to the new paradigms.
After all, this is the era of Sherlock Holmes and Jules Verne, so, my work is half-doe already
For my Tarot draw, I got THE HERMIT (REVERSE) Imprudence. Hastiness. Rashness. Prematurity. Incorrect advice. Failure caused by dullness. Over-prudence causes unnecessary delays. Hmm, dullness? Yes I can see how it applies. Good thing that the coming weeks are slow by nature, not whitstanding the whole Holidays thing, of course...

From the Batman Begins teaser
They told me there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since. I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... Me.
From the first time I heard this, I knew that the movie would capture the spirit of Batman right...
