Looking at next year
It seems that once again Bernie Ecclestone is channelling Dr. Evil in threatening (or shoud I say blackmailing) the folks at the Canadian GP, in order to cough up more dough. After taking the event from the latest 2009 schedule without so much as a warning, now Bernie is resorting to blatant lies and omissions in stating he is owed some money from Normand Legault's organization.
I know some people are saying "good riddance" to this event because of the pollution and so-called tackiness of the event. I understand the sentiment but I do not agree to it. Whether the race be in Canada or in Singapore, it will pollute as much. No, my main point of contention is the fact that, in the race of the mighty Dollar, you know F1 races in places with no Grand Prix racing history. I mean, the Middle East, China, really? All of this started with Canada (and the EU) banning tobbacco advertisement, and then greed took over.
Just for the fun of it, I have decided to draw a list of what would be my ideal race schedule (would probably be better to switch the Indy and Monaco races, as well as the US and Japan). Looking at the 2009 proposed schedule, you can see I have taken out races to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, China, Malaysia and Turkey. I also replaced the gimmicky Singapore night race and the European, which is of little use with added (in yellow) races. And to pour more salt on Bernie, I put back the French and Canadian GP. If only if were that easy in RL.

Staying on the whole "proposed 2009" subject, even though I haven't have any confirmation for this semester's vacation days, I am already looking forward to next year as I am planning to return to Vancouver. No, the fact that S would be in the area next November as ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with it. Just one of the funny coin-ki-dink. :-)
Semi-seriously, supposing that it would indeed be in November the only problem I foresee is in the data gathering area. Notwhitstanding the fact that I have this unwritten rule set up of only one plane trip per semester, there's also the small fact that I am selecting my vacation days on a random basis, and the odds of me selecting one particular week is a little over 50% (if I take into account the 4 weeks with are barred from low seniority). That would mean that I would end up either a) acting as if any data gathered while over there would count for another period or b) use data based in La Cité as if I were still here. Given that there my projections predicts that at most I would need to replace only 1 piece during my stay (most probably the bit about my mother's hometown ends up populated by dinosaurs, but that's a story for another time). Relatively minor point but I live for these minor worries.
I'm more concerned with how it would end up affecting my NaNoWriMo duties. Most of the time, I'm already hard-pressed for time to write my 1,700 words-a-day. On the other hand, maybe a change of locale could serve as a boost.
Speaking of NaNoWriMo, already started polishing up my notes for this year's entry. Will again explore my post-WW II Super-hero / Fantasy universe but putting more emphasis on the fantastic part of the journey.
MtG Tarot-wise, I have drawn QUIETUS SPIKE. Given that in the past week, I got an invite to play VTES (it's been over a yeear since I last played) and I came by the guy who used to hold tournaments in La Cité, it seems à propos to have a card that refers to a discipline.
