What are you most excited about in 2010?

On a personal level, to get the chance to see S face-to-face.

Career-wise, can't wait for BigMediaCo to become an actual player on the wireless field.

It feels weird that even though I kind of chose to stay at home instead of going to Ottawa, I'm plagued with requests coming from over there. It's getting annoying to think that I have become a servant to a group which normally I wouldn't be in contact with.

At least, by Monday, I should have my free time back, just in time to give it to the vampire that is work... Yea, I decided to push my 2 days off from the beginning to the end of the week, just in case last week's emergency doesn't come back to blow me in the face. Not that I'm still assigned to the project, but I'm sure they forgot to take my name off of the list on the "Who to blame" list. LOL

Didn't do anything special for 2010's arrival. Just watched the TV specials, sipping Hpnotiq and went for a walk when the clock struck 12. It's the quiet times that are the best...

The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

Hmm, this sounds interesting, I wonder which of my travels will translate into visiting such a land.

Who did you meet this year who had a big impact on your life? Did you reconnect with any old friends? Who was there for you through it all?

It's weird that I'm drawing a total blank on that question as to finding new people. Come to think of it, I'm been in a relative isolationist mood, especially at work.

Not even the Facebook lurks, which have scored some hits among long-lost uncles and aunts is drawing me.

At least my FRIENDS (Raven, S et al) have always been there and I can't deny the pleasure of my acquaintances on the Voxshpere (Waterbaby, Strive2Be, I'm looking at you!) whose postings and comments always stoke my interests...

I don't know who is the "great mind" who first thought that using malware to browbeat people into buying an anti-spywware program should be condemned to because actual SPAM. Craptop's on the fritz again, at least I still have my trust Netbook...

Even with a skeleton crew, BigMediaCo's brass is not above making crazy decisions. When I arrived at work Monday, I was privy to a flurry of e-mails as a project that the marketing dept wanted ASAP. Not taking into account the fact that almost 3 / 4 to the staff is on vacation, our PHBs not only answered positively to that request, they give off-the-cuff estimates on when all this could be delivered.

The only silver lining I can find about this was that I was not deemed worthy enough to work on this endeavour, which is funny as I would have been the perfect resource know which corners one could safely cut. Oh well, not having a cloud of Doom following me during the Holidays is not so bad. It's too bad I'll miss the fallout as I only return to the office after said project is supposed to go up. I wonder if my bosses would allow be the possibility to move my vacation days, only to enjoy the train wreck...

Pyrotechnics

It's only fitting that my last draw of the year is PYROTECHNICS. A prelude of how 2010 will be?

Whether as a spectator or a participant, that it the question I will be able to answer 12 months from now

What's your best advice on how to deal with the post-holiday blues?

Get back to work, you lazy bum! I kid but the fact that I'm working between Christmas and New Year's is a great cure towards not feeling the blues, If I'm lucky, it just feels like having 2 long week-ends in a row!

Returing to work for a couple of days is something that used to bug at first but I have grown accustomed to the rythm. That doesn't mean I wouldn't accept to have the whole period off but since it would depends on the good graces of the PHBs and on the fact I would need to let go of my hangups on trying to benefit from the system at the expense of others. That is my greatest weakness.

Christmas was okay, I guess... Dinner aside, it kind of felt like a normal week-end... Maybe the sleet/snow/rain storm of yesterday has soured my outlook.

The days are passing by and the rythm is winding down as we head towards the downtime of the Holiday season at work. Everyone's distracted by the coming events and we sometmes forget the small details.

Just because a truce for the season is called doesn't mean we forget the war. Forgive but never forget is my motto for everything BigMediaCo related. nnd to add to the irony, a year late there's this offer of a transfer that is dangling in front of me. But I'm far too stubborn to admit defeat, especailly with how whipped I felt last year.

Must be why my MtG card of the day is WILLBENDER. It's just a questioon to finding whose will will break first But they say when something is borken, it rebuilds itself stronger.

A theory that I'm sure I'll have to find the results by myself...
